Established in Fall 2011, the Office of Undergraduate Research was developed to encourage scholarly works across all academic disciplines. Through research-oriented coursework, independent research opportunities offered both during the school year and summer, and many other ways to collaborate with award-winning faculty, students at USD gain invaluable skills, such as grant-writing, through their research experiences at the University of San Diego.
Each year, students are invited to display the results of the research they have done at Creative Collaborations. It is an opportunity to showcase “the vibrant student–faculty interactions that are a hallmark of a USD education”. Please visit the Creative Collaborations Web site to learn more about the exciting research in which our students have participated.
Students are encouraged to participate in an internship to enhance the education they are receiving inside the USD classrooms. Typically, the internships are in the career field a student is interested in pursuing and students can receive course credit for completing an internship. Companies and businesses throughout San Diego look to USD for interns and the following is a list of just a few of the places our students have recently found internship opportunities:
- Qualcomm
- San Diego Padres
- Hubbs-Sea World Research Institute
- Old Globe Theatre
- San Diego Gas and Electric
- San Diego Superior Court Pre-Trial Services
