Ethical Leadership
The vision of USD’s comprehensive leadership development program is “to develop the leadership potential in all students for global and interdependent world.” This vision is fully a part of the history and vision of Catholic Higher Education. In its emphasis on values, ethics and moral development Catholic Institutions has always raised expectations that graduates will make a positive difference in their world.
Contemporary understandings of leadership tell us that:
- Leadership understanding and capability result from purposeful and focused education and critical examination
- Leadership also emerges from acts of service and involvement and is further understood from these experiences.
Academically, Student Affairs offers:
- The Emerging Leader Program for freshmen
- A Leadership Minor for undergraduate students (225 students enrolled)
- A Masters in Leadership
- A Doctoral Degree in Leadership
Experientially, Student Affairs supports:
- 70+ Student Organizations
- 8 elected Associated Student Body positions
- 25 appointed Director positions
- A multitude of volunteer opportunities
- Opportunities for involvement in Social Issues
- Guide training for Leaders in the Outdoor Adventure program
