A Message to Freshmen and Transfer Parents

Move-in day

Welcome to USD!  Please consider the Office of Parent Relations as your liaison with the university.  If you have any questions or concerns over the summer, please do not hesitate to call the office at (619) 260-4808 or email parents@sandiego.edu .  We look forward to meeting you at a Summer Send Off or on Move In Day.

Following is additional information to help you prepare over the summer:

  • You will be receiving a New Parent and Family Calendar in mid-June.  This calendar will provide you with important information to guide you through your student's first year at USD.
  • In June, an online Parent Handbook will be available for your reference.  It is meant to be a comprehensive guide to the opportunities and services on campus.  It will also provide answers to many of your questions.
  • Summer Send Offs: The Office of Parent Relations is coordinating Summer Send Offs which are pre-orientation receptions coordinated in regions of the country with the most significant enrollment of incoming freshman and transfer students. Summer Send Offs are generally hosted by parents in the region and the Office of Parent Relations. Parent Board members, alumni, and orientation team students participate by answering questions from students and parents, who welcome the opportunity to meet representatives from the university. Students and parents enjoy meeting other families from their area and find it comforting to put faces with names and get answers to questions. Visit our Summer Send Off page for this year's schedule.
  • Move In Day for all new students in Saturday, August 30, 2008.  You will receive more details on Move In Day and the Torero Days Parent Orientation schedule in mailings from the Offices of Student Affairs and Parent Relations.
