Knowledge Transfer Program
Do students understand the importance of networking?
The USD Parents Association along with the Office of Parent Relations has
created a program that puts students in direct contact with parents of other USD students…and these are parents who have your student’s best interests at heart.
The USD Knowledge Transfer program is a series of industry specific forums on campus in classrooms and auditoriums where the current USD students hear from a panel of experts of a specific industry on a subject of interest - and learn and network with these parents – and potentially gain knowledge and connections that will assist them as they move on from USD. Specific knowledge will be transferred from the parent panel in a fashion that will provide USD students with hands on business knowledge which will compliment their wonderful USD academic education.
Parents can get involved in the USD Knowledge Transfer in the following ways:
The Career Networking Directory of Parents is a directory listing of parents, who choose to partake in the program and make themselves available to help USD students.
- The directory will be a networking tool for USD students.
- Parent participants will field periodic questions from our students and recent graduates about your industry and knowledge of your local community.
- Involvement can range from a single telephone call covering general or introductory topics to a meeting discussing your particular career path. While the time commitment is minimal, the impact of the information you provide is significant.
The USD Knowledge Transfer Panel Discussions are programs held on USD’s campus and allow students to attend industry specific panels, ask questions, and network with parents within their industry of interest.
- By serving as an a industry specific expert in panel discussions you have an opportunity to provide real-world input to better aid USD students, like yours, in understanding the working environment.
