International Center Open House

The International Center houses the Office of International Studies Abroad
and the Office of International Students and Scholars. Learn about international
programs and services at USD. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., ask questions
about the Class of 2013 Second Year Experience (SYE) Abroad Program.

The Heart of the Matter: Academic Assistance and Direction
Hahn University Center, Forum B
Learn about the resources and people in place to help students reach their
academic potential and clarify their direction in college. Representatives from
the faculty, Center for Student Success, USD Career Services and University
Ministry as well as current students will share recommendations and discuss
resources available for students struggling with academic performance and/
or choosing a major.

Day Trip to Julian
Spend the day in this charming mountain town enjoying an easy hike and
free time in town. The cost is $30 per person, which includes transportation

View the exhibit Katsina: Commodified and Appropriated Images of Hopi Supernaturals in the David W. May Gallery. The May Collection and Gallery encourage the USD campus and San Diego community to increase their knowledge, awareness, and understanding of American Indians--especially those of the Southwest--through their art and other artifacts, that are used in exciting and informative exhibits.

Cooking Class: Prepare a Meal in Minutes — Without an Oven!

Participate in a cooking class led by one of USD’s own Culinary Institute
of America certified-chefs. No kitchen? No problem! Learn how to create a
great meal without an oven or stove. Tour Tu Mercado and learn grocery shopping

Meet in Front of the Hahn University Center
The Student Life Pavilion will be USD’s first LEED-certified facility. Take a
guided walking tour of the new building to learn about innovative energy efficiency,
water-saving and resource conservation features.

Utilizing Wellness for Student Transitions

Learn what experts in the USD Student Wellness area recommend to provide
guidance and support to your student. This session will review typical
transition issues you can expect for the rest of the year and support services

USD Intramural Golf Tournament
Riverwalk Golf Course
Play in this 2x2 scramble format tournament with your student. Check in at
the course between 12 and 12:30 p.m.; tee-off is at 1 p.m. $85 per parent and
$75 per student (includes green fees, driving range card, shared cart, prizes

A successful businessman with an English degree? The CEO of a technology
leader majored in history? Meet a panel including USD alumni, faculty and
parents who will share their ideas and stories about the value of a degree
in the arts or sciences. Mary K. Boyd, PhD, dean of the College of Arts and
Sciences, will be available to answer your questions.

Campus Tour for Siblings

The admissions office invites siblings of USD students to enjoy a walking
tour of the campus. After the tour, siblings have a chance to meet USD students
and learn what’s involved in applying to colleges and what it’s like to

Bring your Torero spirit and enjoy a barbecue buffet lunch before the big
game. Participate in games and activities sponsored by Associated Students.
Every family attending the tailgate party will be entered into a drawing. Win
a FREE residence hall room makeover for a current USD student, courtesy
of The Container Store ($600 value). One male and one female student will
win. The winning families must be present at the time of the drawing to win.
