The associate vice president for student
affairs, assistant dean for student learning
initiatives, faculty and students will discuss
the innovative electronic portfolio system.

Connecting to Career Services

How do students make connections for their future careers? Learn
from USD Career Services what students can be doing during their
freshman year through their senior year to develop a plan and gain
practical experience while they are still in school.

Utilizing Wellness for Student Transitions
Hahn University Center, Forum B
Learn what experts in the USD Student Wellness Area recommend
for how to best provide guidance and support to your student.
This session will review typical transition issues you can expect for
the rest of the year and support services and programs at USD.
Professionals will be available to answer questions you may have.

What Can Parents Do?

Meet representatives from Student Affairs, Parent Relations and the
Parents Association Board and learn how to collaborate with the
university to best support the success of your son or daughter,
offering an appropriate balance of challenge, support and guidance.

International Studies Open House at the International Center

Meet staff in the International Center and gather information about
all of USD’s international study opportunities.

Day Trip to Julian
Spend the day in this charming mountain town, enjoying an easy
hike and free time in town. Transportation and hot Julian apple pie
is included. $20 per person; space is limited. Call Outdoor

Lunch
Lunch is available on campus at a variety of dining outlets. A
schedule and list of locations will be available at the registration table.

USD Intramural Golf Tournament
Riverwalk Golf Course
Play in this 2x2 scramble format tournament with your
student. Includes contests, food, drinks and prizes. $85 per
parent; $75 per student (includes green fees, driving range
card, shared cart and lunch; additional fees for club
rentals). Register for the tournament by Oct. 12 by calling

Catholic Social Thought Inside
and Outside the Classroom
The University of San Diego has embraced Catholic Social Thought as an integral dimension of Academic Affairs. In this session we will look at how the principles of Catholic Social Thought are taught in an introductory theology class and lived out in a Residential Living Area.

Free Will and the Law: A Case Study
In this session, I explore issues at the intersection of philosophy, psychiatry, and the law. In particular, I explore the role free will plays in recent laws passed in California and other states which aim at keeping sexually violent predators off the streets. At the heart of the issue is whether a person ‘has the free will’ to be convicted or not and what the legal system and psychiatry have to say about it.

Trams leave USD at the top of each hour and depart from the beach
at the bottom of each hour between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. $10 per
