St. Vincent de Paul Village
Help prepare the lunchtime meal at this downtown soup kitchen, the largest transitional housing program in San Diego County, serving over 1.7 million meals a year. A group departs USD each Thursday at 11 a.m. and returns by 1 p.m.

In addition to assisting with the preparation and service of lunch, USD students spend time learning about homelessness and poverty in San Diego as well as developing relationships with the clients of St. Vincent’s. To sign up, contact the Romero Center at x4897 or by email to kmartin@sandiego.edu

Special Delivery
Deliver meals to homebound men, women, and children living with HIV, AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses in the downtown San Diego area. A group departs campus each Friday afternoon at 2:30 and returns by 5 p.m.

An all-volunteer organization, Special Delivery has been delivering nutritious meals for over 15 years. USD students play a critical role in the organization’s efforts, not only delivering food but also serving as one of the clients’ primary contacts and developing relationships with them.  To sign up, contact the Romero Center at x4897 or by email to kmartin@sandiego.edu
