Senior Get-Away 2008

Senior Get-Away Senior Get-Away
28 seniors attended the first ever Senior Get-Away. The event was held January 23-25, 2008 and was organized around three key themes: meaningful work, relationships, and community. University staff members from the Career Services, Student Affairs, and University Ministry facilitated the experience. Seniors Brice Shirimbere and Theresa Bishop listen intently during the session on "Meaningful Work." Staff from USD's Career Services facilitated a lively conversation designed to help the students clarify their desires for future careers as well as the values that are most important to them in future jobs.

Monsignor Dan Dillabough offers some thoughts on relationships, including what he's learned from preparing USD alumni for marriage. Father Dan also led the group of Seniors through a guided meditation centered on the most important people in their lives. USD alums Maria Torretto and Minh-Ha Hoang followed Father Dan's talk with a description of their experiences with relationships after college. Dr. Tom Cosgrove, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, led the group through a reflection on community. Tom invited the group to consider how they have been influenced by the various USD communities they've been a part of and how they will find similar communities beyond USD. Tom's remarks were complimented by those of Crystal Catalan, a 2007 USD alum, living and working in Los Angeles.
