USD's Staff and Administrators Recognition Program

Annual Employee Picnic

Employees are one of USD's most valuable assets.  The university recognizes that employees do make a difference.

As a way to express its appreciation, the university holds an annual employee picnic in June for all faculty, staff and administrative employees and their families. The event is filled with entertainment, games, contests and delicious food.  To add to the fun and excitement, the planning committee decides each year on a picnic theme.

The Staff Employee of the Year and the Administrator of the Year are announced and presented with awards at this event.

Code of Conduct Award

In November 1999, the Division Finance and Administration developed a set of guiding principles of duty and virtue which describe how we shall conduct ourselves as representatives of the university and set the basis for how our performance will be evaluated, as members of a Catholic community dedicated to the practice of business.  The Code refers to the adherence to laws, rules and policies and the moral principles of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness and social awareness.

In December 2003, the Division of Finance and Administration announced that it would present an annual award to the employee who best exemplifies the values set forth by the Code of Conduct.

Question - How are years of service calculated for Service Awards?

Answer - Anniversary dates are calculated based on an employee's continuous service as a regular status employee. If an employee has a break in service of more than one month and less than one year and returns as a regular status employee, the employee's anniversary date (for the purpose of service awards) is adjusted by the number of months in the break of service.
