Camino Founders
Founders and Camino Hall, along with Shiley Theater, Sacred Heart Hall and Founders Chapel, make up the composite of the first building complex completed in Alcala' Park. This was the San Diego College for Women.
Reminiscent on a smaller scale of the complexes of English universities, four major courtyards are given definition by two story linear Building structures and a connecting second story walkway. The consistent Spanish Renaissance style, selected as the original design pallet, esthetically strengthens the strong relationship between building mass and outside courtyard. This architectural style served as the model for all the following structures built in Alcala' Park and gives the University of San Diego its current architectural identity.
