Meet the Chief Human Resources Officer

	David M. Blake, Ph.D., SPHR Chief Human Resources Officer

David M. Blake, who has extensive experience in human resources and administration, was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer for Human Resources at USD in November 2010.  Before coming to USD, Dr. Blake served as Associate Vice President for Human Resources at National University.  Dr. Blake has been engaged in human resources related positions for over thirty years, serving in key management areas within employee relations, learning, development, and staffing.  His experience includes a twenty year career with the United States Air Force.
 
Dr. Blake holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Resources Management, a Master of Arts in Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Education Studies.

Dr. Blake’s community involvement includes Board Member of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Education Subcommittee, Board Member of the San Diego Workforce Partnership, Board Member of ACCESS Inc., and Immediate Past President of Habitat for Humanity, Inland Valley.  Dr. Blake holds a professional certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources with the Society for Human Resource Management.  Additionally, he is an adjunct faculty member with the University of Redlands and National University, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in human resource management.  Dr. Blake was selected and graduated from LEAD San Diego Class of 2008-2009. 

During his career, while directing administrative and human resource functions, Dr. Blake established a reputation for improving the bottom line, operating efficiency and employee morale.
