Getting Started at USD
These steps apply to full-time, tenure-track faculty.
Things To Do Before You Arrive to USD
(optional as these can be done when you arrive)Obtain a USD Banner ID Number:
- Complete the Confidential Employee Information Form. This form is sent to tenure-track faculty by e-mail in July. If you have not received this form contact Peggy Agerton at agertonp@sandiego.edu or at 619-260-4553.
- Return the Confidential Employee Information Form to Karen Kitchen, HR Employment Services Manager, at karenkitchen@sandiego.edu.
- New employee information will be entered into the Oracle HR system and a Banner ID number will be generated.
- Human Resources will notify you of your Banner ID number.
Create an E-mail/MySanDiego Account:
- Upon receipt of your Banner ID number, go to https://my.sandiego.edu/. Click on Open an Account.
- Your MySanDiego account will serve as your e-mail account, your CE6 (WebCT/Blackboard) username, your personal web space, and it will give you access to the MySanDiego portal.

Things To Do Upon Arrival to USD
- If you have not obtained a USD Banner ID number, visit Human Resources, Maher Hall, Room 101 to:
- Complete new hire forms, sign up for direct deposit, and secure your Banner ID number.
- Create an e-mail/MySanDiego account by going to https://my.sandiego.edu/. Click on Open an Account.
- If you have obtained a USD Banner ID number, visit Human Resources, Maher Hall, Room 101 to:
- Complete new hire forms (W4 and I-9 forms) and sign up for direct deposit.
- Request an Identification Card Request (salmon-colored form) needed to obtain a USD Campus Card at Campus Card Office.
- Visit Campus Card Office in USD Bookstore (after August 4th, Campus Card will be located in the University Center, Room 127) to:
- Obtain a Campus Card. You will need the Identification Card Request from Human Resources, a valid picture ID such as a driver's license or a passport for identity verification.
- Obtain a USD parking permit, if needed. See Parking Services Web site for parking permit price list. Benefit-based employees may pay for the parking permit through payroll deductions using pre-tax money.
