Faculty Status Committee. Charge: Manage the review and revision of Chapter 2.4 in Policy and Procedure Manual (PDF), “Faculty Rights and Responsibilities.” Examine the desirability of a policy to govern the use by the university of faculty names, images and work in marketing and public relations materials. Explore changes to current workload policies to reflect teaching-related duties beyond regular teaching duties, such as thesis and dissertation supervision, independent studies, honors theses and the like. Suggest a policy that is more responsive to the work involved in these duties.

Honorary Degrees Committee. Charge: Solicit honorary degree nominations from the faculty and deans. Broadcast the electronic link to the nomination form and suggest submission deadlines. Research the qualifications of nominees and recommend to the Senate which nominees the committee determines eligible to receive an honorary degree. Provide salient (but not excessive) documentation of nominee accomplishments and report to the Senate the award criteria he or she satisfies. Research and report to the Senate the names of previously approved honorary degree recipients who remain on the active list for consideration by the Board of Trustees.

Budget Committee. Charge: Consider the advisability of inviting either Terry Kalfayan from the Office of Budget and Treasury or Dr. Roy Heynderickx, VP for Finance and Administration, or both to sit ex officio on the Budget Committee. Have Ms Kalfayan present her overview of the budget process to the committee. Determine whether this presentation is appropriate for the Senate. Initiate discussion with Dr. Heynderickx regarding strategies for more effective faculty participation in the budget process. Recommend ways the Senate can work with the Office of Finance and Administration to promote more transparency in the budget process. Make recommendations to the Senate regarding budget initiatives the Senate should advance.

Benefits Policy Committee. Charge: Investigate creation of a policy to provide incentive benefits for employees who take advantage of health promotion activities on campus including, but not limited to, flex time for non-exempt employees participating in such activities, reimbursement benefits for employees enrolling in off campus health programs (smoking cessation, weight loss and the like) and comparable benefits for participation in other health promotion activities. Investigate the life insurance policy benefit with respect to age.
