SOLES International Opportunities
For more than 16 years, the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) at the University of San Diego (USD) has demonstrated an unquestionable commitment to fostering the development of quality education that promotes diversity, equity, and global perspectives. A leading pioneer, SOLES was one of the first schools of education to provide international and global education opportunities for its students and faculty.  Since 1999, SOLES has housed the SOLES Global Center, which has successfully placed numerous students in short-term study abroad courses, global exchange and internship programs; effectively learning; proactively engaged diverse administrators and faculty to participate in international research, collaborations, presentations and conferences; and infused the SOLES curriculum with issues of culture, language, race, socioeconomic status, and other diverse global perspectives.  The SOLES Global Center programs support USD’s vision to educate students in becoming globally competent, ethical leaders to work and serve in our diverse, complex and changing world.

About Us
In the 1990’s, USD began an initiative entitled “Internationalization of the Curriculum,” which resulted in courses and programmatic changes in all its professional schools. SOLES played an integral role in designing and implementing global diversity and international work at USD and offered its first course abroad in 1995.

The Global Center has successfully placed numerous students in short-term study abroad courses, global exchange and internship programs. The Global Center programs support USD’s vision to educate students in becoming globally competent, ethical leaders to work and serve in our diverse, complex and changing world.   The Global Center has strengthened our school’s commitment to global diversity and inclusion, and it has created opportunities for the development of regional, national, and global leadership in international education.
