Help support USD's social justice mission by donating to the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Scholarship Fund.

Nonprofit salaries in San Diego County are far below private and public sector compensation levels. Our goal is to help ensure that the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Program at SOLES is able to continue to attract and retain highly qualified and diverse practitioner students through scholarships that help to defray their tuition costs.

Here's how your gift can help:

  • For every $3 you give, the Ackerman Foundation will match your gift with $1 - increasing the value of every gift by 33%.
  • Any amount you choose to give will bring us one step closer to reaching our goal

SOLES Nonproft Success Story

Jullian Jepsen
Jillian Jepsen
Development Manager: Membership and Special Events
Museum of Making Music

"I always knew I would pursue a master's degree. But as an English major at USD, I wasn't sure what kind of postgraduate degree would foster my passion for museums and the nonprofit sector. Last year, I discovered USD's Nonprofit Leadership & Management Program, and I instantly knew it was right for me. Not only was it the perfect field, but I could still work full time as development manager of the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad. Reality quickly set in and I realized I would have to figure out a way to finance the program. Still paying off debt from my undergraduate studies, taking out another loan was not an option."

The Ackerman Challenge Grant

In October 2007 The Thomas C. Ackerman Foundation approved a challenge grant that, when met, will create over $1 million in endowed scholarships for Nonprofit Leadership and Management students at USD.

To meet this challenge, the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) must receive $600,000 in new pledge commitments by June 30, 2008.
