Susan Instone, Associate Professor in Nursing, is the Director of the Advanced Practice Nursing Programs.
She completed her MSN degree (1989) and Doctor of Nursing Science degree (1996) at the University of San Diego. She is board certified by the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and currently practices part-time in pediatric primary care.
Dr. Instone teaches in the PNP and FNP programs. Her current research interests include the behavior and development of vulnerable pediatric populations, childhood chronic illness, and qualitative research methodologies. She recently published “Perceptions of children with HIV infection ‘when not told for so long:’ Implications for diagnosis disclosure” and co-authored “Use of drawings by children in the pediatric office.”
