Michael Gates
Michael Gates has a doctorate in nursing from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He began his nursing career at the University of Tennessee in Memphis after two years as a research assistant with the health policy group at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C. and after receiving his B.S. in applied mathematics/economics from Brown University. His research interests include diversity and the nursing workforce, and he is particularly interested in the link between the healthcare workforce and outcomes of care. He has current work underway that examines nurse labor market behaviors, migration, and employment trends.
