John M. Lantz, RN, PhD. is a part-time professor in the School of
Nursing at the University of San Diego. In addition to working at USD
after his retirement he is also a consultant for the online LVN to BSN
program offered by Indiana State University. He currently is
coordinator of the clinical placement in California for that program.
Dr Lantz is the former Dean and Professor of the School of Nursing at the University of San Francisco and Director and Professor in the School of Nursing at San Diego State University. He has been awarded emeritus status at both institutions. He has been an administrator and educator in schools in Pennsylvania, Texas and California. His clinical areas of expertise are Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, Geriatrics and Community Health Nursing. He has numerous publications in his areas of clinical expertise and on academic issues. Dr Lantz has presented at conferences nationally and internationally and he was recognized, as one of a select few who have been awarded emeritus status by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
He is viewed as a nursing leader, an advocate for the profession and students and he is well respected by his nursing colleagues.
