Admission Criteria For the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program

  • Master’s degree in nursing with APN specialty preparation
  • California RN license
  • 1 year recent APN clinical nursing experience
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Graduate grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • The GRE general test is recommended but not required
  • Completion of the University Application for the Doctor of Nursing Practice, including application fee
  • The goal statement in the application will require the applicant to elucidate a specific clinical practice focus and clinical issue or problem
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended
  • Three completed recommendation forms (included in the Doctoral application)
  • Certification as an APN
  • An example of scholarly writing (thesis, article, paper)
  • Resume
  • Interview
