Adult Nurse Practitioner

Spring Open House

Admission

  • A BSN degree from an approved, accredited school*
  • Current California RN licensure
  • One year of clinical experience preferred
  • Basic computer literacy
  • A 3 semester credit course in statistics
  • A GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Completion of the University Application for Graduate Admission
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended
  • Three professional recommendations (forms included in the Graduate Application)
  • The GRE general test is recommended but not required
  • Resume
  • Interview
  • Current baccalaureate level physiology and health assessment knowledge/skills
  • Evidence of specified immunizations and screening tests, a report of recent physical examination, and BLS certification
  • International applicants must meet additional requirements for admission http://www.sandiego.edu/admissions/graduate/international.php
*Applicants without a BSN must have an ADN or Diploma in Nursing from an approved, accredited program and a baccalaureate degree in a related field. In addition, they must take BSNC 333 and MEPN 547.

The application deadline is March 1. All materials must be received by this date to receive priority consideration.

Curriculum Plan

The Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) track requires the completion of 40 academic units and a minimum of four semesters of full-time study. Course sequencing for full-time study is outlined below. Part-time study is also available.

ANP Track

Fall Semester, Year One
