Dr. Anita Hunter is a Professor, teaching in the master's and doctoral programs, and Director of the Master in Nursing and International Nursing Offices. She received her PNP from Northeastern University in Boston, her MS from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, and her PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut/Storrs. She has been a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner since 1976 through the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses.
Dr. Hunter is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She had been actively involved with the National organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, and the International Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Nursing Network. She continues to practice as a PNP working in a variety of international communities: Mexico with the Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos orphanage in Cuernavaca; Cruce, Dominican Republic with displaced and homeless Dominicans and Haitians; and in Mbarara, Uganda at the Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital. She is currently acting as the Medical Director for the Holy Innocents NGO out of Rancho Bernardo, California.
