Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Christopher Hill returns from his travels in Asia to accept the University of San Diego Medal of Peace. Hill will receive the award Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, during a closed ceremony at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice (IPJ). He’s being honored for leading peacekeeping efforts in North Korea.
A press conference, with Hill and Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies Dean William Headley, will be held immediately following the presentation from 7 to 7:15 p.m. in IPJ Room 151.
This is only the third time the university Medal of Peace has been awarded. It was created in 2007 to coincide with the inauguration of the School of Peace Studies as a way to acknowledge those who have contributed substantively to peace making in local, regional, national or international arenas.
The University of San Diego is located at 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego, CA 92110.
