| Text | On Thursday, April 22, 2010, the University of San Diego’s College of Arts and Sciences will host a Project Runway panel discussion and viewing party for students, faculty, and members of the USD community. Project Runway, which airs on the Lifetime Television Station, is a competition between young fashion designers vying for a chance to attain $100,000 to start their own design line and a feature spread in Marie Claire magazine.
Arts and Sciences faculty and alumni will participate in a broad panel discussion that incorporates both an academic perspective as well as the many cultural implications of reality television, in addition to offering insights into the fashion industry from industry professionals. Panelists will also share their own thoughts and feelings on the show, and explain why they are fans. The audience is encouraged to join in the conversation, asking questions and sharing their thoughts on the show through the panel discussion and backchannel Twitter feed of the event.
