On Thursday, April 15, 2010, the University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice will host a discussion on peace in the Middle East with UCLA’s acclaimed professor, Steven Spiegel.

The talk will examine the current perspectives of the critical diplomatic triangle: the Palestinians, Israelis and Americans and will explore where the Obama administration stands on these issues and what the prospects are for bringing peace to the region.

Steven L. Spiegel is a professor of Political Science at UCLA, director of the Center for Middle East Development at UCLA, and provides assistance to Middle East programs at the statewide UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation. Through innovative and informal negotiation techniques Spiegel produces cutting-edge ideas for promoting Middle East regional security and cooperation. He received the Karpf Peace Prize in 1995.
