USD School of Law Reference Librarian Jane Larrington Named Chair of New AALL Task Force

San Diego (July 24, 2013) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Reference Librarian Jane Larrington will serve as chair of the American Association of Law Libraries’ (AALL) new CLE and Practice-Oriented Education and Publication Task Force.

Developed as a recommendation of the AALL Futures Summit held in the fall of 2011, the purpose of the task force is to increase the visibility and value of law librarianship as an integral part of the legal profession through improved outreach to stakeholders and future colleagues through members' active participation in practice-oriented education and publications.

Larrington will lead the task force’s charge to identify existing and potential opportunities for members to develop and participate in practice-oriented education; develop and market strategies to increase members' participation in practice-oriented education; and recommend and develop a means for members to share experiences and best practices of active participation in practice-oriented education and publications. The task Force will submit a final report with recommendations for the spring 2014 Executive Board meeting.

About Jane Larrington

Jane Larrington is a reference librarian at USD School of Law’s Legal Research Center, where she provides research and reference services to faculty, students, and other library patrons. She regularly presents training sessions on a variety of legal research topics and serves on the campus library reference subcommittee.

Prior to arriving at USD, Larrington was a reference librarian and adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law (TJSL), where she taught advanced legal research and provided research and reference services to faculty and students. Before joining TJSL, Larrington was a fellow at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law Library, where she provided research, reference, and circulation services.
