USD School of Law Launches First Post-Grad Training Program

Message

San Diego (December 10, 2012) - During the Fall 2012 semester, University of San Diego School of Law hosted its first post-graduation training program for alumni.

Message Remainder

Led by Professor Allen Snyder and made possible through the generosity of Los Angeles-based alumnus George Strong ('74), this six-week post-bar alumni education program focused on oral advocacy trial skills. The program was free for recent graduates and provided those admitted to practice with 36 hours of continuing education credit.

Students voiced great enthusiasm for the program. One attendee commented, “I thought the group of instructors was spectacular. I truly felt like I was working with world-class professionals.” Another stated that they learned, “there is really no substitute for preparation and critical thinking about the case and about the particular activity.”

An exceptional group of experienced faculty, comprised of leading practitioners who have substantial experience representing both sides in criminal and civil matters, volunteered to teach this program. All except one of the program faculty were USD School of Law alumni: Judge Judy Hayes (’77), Alan Brubaker (’76), Monique Carter (’05), Bibi Fell (’04), Michelle Ialeggio (’04), Knut Johnson (’86), Lynne Lasry (’79), Virginia Nelson (’79), Jim Sandler (’75) and Jessica Wilson (’06). Linda Lane, a graduate of the University of Colorado Law School, also graciously joined the volunteer faculty.

The law school is considering the development of another educational program that is likely to focus on deposition training.
