Yale Kamisar Named University of San Diego Professor of Law Emeritus

SAN DIEGO (October 29, 2012)—Retired University of San Diego School of Law Professor Yale Kamisar has been named Professor of Law Emeritus as voted by the law school’s faculty and approved by the university’s Board of Trustees. Appointment of emeritus status may be granted for uncommonly meritorious teaching, scholarship or service to the university, taking into account years of service to the University of San Diego and contributions to the nominee’s profession.

Kamisar joined University of San Diego School of Law in 2002, teaching and writing in the areas of criminal procedure, criminal law, and the administration of criminal justice before his retirement in 2011. He is also the Clarence Darrow Distinguished University Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Michigan Law School, where he began teaching in 1965.
