The Cutri Gift Opening Reception
|Event Start Date||Thursday, July 17, 2014|
Founders Hall Foyer
|Event Start Time||5:00 pm - 7:00 pm|
Please join us to celebrate the opening reception for University Galleries' first summer interssession exhibition, The Cutri Gift: A Summer Celebration of Recent Acquisitions. The show includes a diverse selection of works that were given in a large donation by local collectors and patrons of the arts, Albert and Sharon Cutri.
The Print Collection at the University Galleries has virtually doubled in size over the past 24 months. This growth is due to the extraordinary generosity of collectors who have seen the merit in our endeavor to connect audiences to the finest original prints. Few gifts of art in recent memory can rival the donation of almost 150 singular works from the personal collection of Albert and Sharon Cutri. The Cutri Gift is a selection of over thirty works from the much larger gift that was presented to USD in early 2014. Works on view will include prints by Anders Zorn, European Art Nouveau prints including work by Manual Robbe and Alphonse Mucha, lithographs and linocuts by Belle Baranceanu, early Californian landscape prints, and lithographic posters by Berkeley-based artist David Lance Goines.
