Bridges Academy: Dred Scott, the Racism of Slavery and the Helix of Federalism

The Dred Scott case presented a power struggle between federal and state laws that led the judicial brance to overturn federal legislation for the first time in US history. Since then, there have been many cases of racism and civil rights that have depended on judicial interpretation of the separation between state and federal law. Join Megan Huynh, a McNair Scholar of the class of 2015, as she presents her research on the interpretation of constitutional law and how it materialized into the racism of slavery.
