In Tela de Sevoya the protagonist travels to Bulgaria in search of her family roots, her history, and Ladino, the familiar language that Sephardic Jews brought with them from medieval Spain. Anecdotes, painful childhood episodes, dreams, poems, and testimonies in Spanish and Ladino are intertwined with the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, the First and Second World Wars, the Shoah, and their stories of migration and exile through Bulgaria, Turkey and Mexico.
