A panel of distinguished USD alumni will be exploring the IRS collection process and best practices for resolving tax debts. They will discuss recent updates on IRS collection efforts and changes to help distressed taxpayers. The panelists will focus on the structure of the IRS, collection methods, installment agreements, and offers in compromise. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers.

The Panel

• Ronson "Ronnie" Shamoun is a tax controversy attorney with fifteen years of tax experience, including eight years in practice. Mr. Shamoun has extensive experience in representing individuals and businesses before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), the California Employment Development Department (EDD), and the California State Board of Equalization (SBOE).
• Jonathan Amitrano is an associate with the Law Offices of Ronson Shamoun. His expertise lies primarily in federal and state tax controversy. Mr. Amitrano has represented clients in complex IRS audits, including “in-formation” transactions in an IRA and mark-to-market issues. Mr. Amitrano has been the second chair in representing clients in multiple SBOE criminal tax matters.
• Ashley Kerins is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Ronson Shamoun. She has represented clients in IRS income tax audits, EDD classification audits, offers in compromise, and off-shore voluntary disclosures, among other matter. Ms. Kerins has been the second chair in defending clients in criminal investigations for failure to file currency transaction reports and aiding and abetting in the filing of false income tax returns.
