ADPi: Ronald McDonald House
By creating, finding and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well being of children, Ronald McDonald House Charities is working to better the lives of children and their families around the world.
KAO: CASA; (Local Chapter)
CASA is for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Concerned over making decisions about abused and neglected children's lives without sufficient information, a Seattle judge conceived the idea of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court. So successful was this Seattle program that soon judges across the country began utilizing citizen advocates. In 1990, the U.S. Congress encouraged the expansion of CASA with passage of the Victims of Child Abuse Act. Today more than 900 CASA programs are in operation, with 70,000 women and men serving as CASA volunteers. CASA is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocate.

Mortar Board, Inc. is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service. Mortar Board is a unique student organization because it is a group comprised of leaders in the USD student community who come together during their senior year as the Mortar Board chapter. Within this group of leaders, there is ample leadership opportunity for members who serve as officers and committee chairs. All members are required to attend biweekly meetings and participate in committees and special projects.
The Alcala Club is a service organization of men and women who work with the president of the University of San Diego as official representatives of the university. Our programs and services help these organizations by building their capacity to positively impact the San Diego community. Volunteers of all ages are mobilized to feed the homeless, serve seniors, beautify the environment, read to youth and make numerous other invaluable contributions. Together, we make San Diego a better place to live, work and play.
