Hahn School of Nursing & Health Science » Director's Welcome
Susan Instone, DNSc, RN, CPNP It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our new DNP Program in the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science. As Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, you will gain additional knowledge and clinical expertise in a defined area of advanced nursing practice. Core knowledge in the scientific, philosophical, ethical, health policy, and business aspects of clinical practice will provide a foundation for your DNP residency and final project.

The program is a result of the vision, dedication, and efforts of the faculty, staff, and administration to begin the first DNP program in our region. Utilizing the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice (2006) as a framework, and approved by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools, we have designed our program to prepare leaders for the nursing profession who have expertise in advanced nursing specialty practice with an individual focus. The DNP Program is consistent with the overall mission of the School of Nursing which is to prepare nursing leaders who can facilitate quality health care for our nation.

In 2010, we will launch our post-BSN DNP program for RNs who desire preparation as family nurse practitioners or adult clinical nurse specialists.

We welcome your inquiries and hope that you will choose our wonderful, highly ranked School for your DNP education!
