| Eight years ago, AAUP-USD put together a survey about ones satisfaction with medical and dental professionals. A list of those providers with whom people were pleased was subsequently distributed to faculty and staff. Because the first list was appreciated by many, and because there have been numerous changes in healthcare and dental plans since then, the chapter decided to do the survey again. The following list gives the results of the survey.
The purpose of the survey was simply to get a list of recommended health care professionals for use by USD faculty and staff. It is assumed that any health provider that is listed is because the particular respondent was satisfied with the person providing the health care. Since the respondents to the survey varied in terms of the information provided, only the names and specialties are specified in most cases. Approximately 80% of health providers listed were specified by faculty members who were willing to provide their names as the individual who made the recommendation (many gave multiple recommendations). These names are available from Gene Labovitz, President of the AAUP-USD (X4024 or labovitz@acusd.edu). The list includes the health plan of the particular provider. The location of the practice was not given in over 90% of the responses but may be obtained from the person giving the recommendation. There was approximately a 20% response rate to the survey. While the responses are limited, it is hoped that they will provide one more tool for faculty and staff to make more informed decisions about health care providers.
