As the uncertainty of a new political landscape faces us, USD’s Humanities Center will offer a series of programs intended to address some of the most important challenges and issues of our times.
Alongside special lectures, student working groups, and workshops will be a weekly panel discussion in which experts and specialists address such issues as: climate change, truth and objectivity, race and identity, immigration, foreign policy, and challenges facing journalism and the media.
In the first of this series, three panelists from the departments of Philosophy and English will address questions of truth, lies, and objectivity in the current political landscape.
Our discussion will be framed by three brief presentations:
"Language, Facts, and Truth"
Ashley Feinsinger, PhD
Assistant Professor, Philosophy
"The Concept of Bullshit"
Michael Kelly, PhD
Assistant Professor, Philosophy
"Objectivity and Subjectivity"
Brad Melekian, PhD
