Students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and families are invited to participate in a USD tradition and march in the 36th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade on Sunday, January 17 at 2 p.m. This event commemorates Dr. King's 87th birthday and his leadership of the nation's civil rights movement. As we reflect on the life of Dr. King and his enduring calls for justice, service, and peace, we come together as a University community and stand together in solidarity with other San Diego organizations in one of the nation's largest celebrations of Dr. King’s legacy.

To register, please visit: toreronetwork.sandiego.edu/mlk2016. The first 100 University of San Diego participants to register and arrive at the parade staging area will be given a complimentary t-shirt to wear in the parade (while supplies last).

Where: San Diego Embarcadero
Staging Area, Harbor Drive and Grape Street

Time: Meet at 1:15 p.m. Parade begins at 2 p.m.

San Diego's parade is coordinated by the Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, the oldest African American fraternity in America, founded in 1906 at Cornell University. Dr. King was also an Alpha.
