Traps in Nonprofit Human Resources: Independent Contractor vs Employees
The IRS does not ignore exempt organizations when it comes to expecting employment taxes, and there are several large traps that are easy for unwary nonprofits to fall into. This presentation will explore a few of these, including covering the independent contractor vs. employee debate, statutory employees (which you automatically have), the newly updated Voluntary Classification Settlement Program (and who should consider it), and the value of robust employment agreements, procedures and practices in exempt organizations.
