Advocating to Include Students with Special Needs in Kuwait
Presented by: Fatima Dashti, PhD

Dr. Fatimah Dashti will present on the educational system in general as well as services for students with special needs within the broader social, cultural, and political context in Kuwait, and will describe her own and other parents’ efforts to advocate for the inclusion of their children with special needs in school and society.

 

About Fatima Dashti, PhD
Dr. Dashti is a visiting scholar at the University of San Diego from the College of Education at Kuwait University, where she is an Associate Professor in education technology. She has a master’s degree from San Diego State University and a PhD from the University of Colorado in Educational Technology. As the parent of a young man with special needs, Dr. Dashti has advocated for including students with special needs in schools and the community in Kuwait and has developed innovative techniques in teaching computer technology to students with intellectual impairments.
