"China 2013: Legal, Political and Business Outlook"

This year is an interesting year in China given the leadership transition taking place throughout 2013. The leadership changes and policy implications have had a profound impact on foreign business in China. Mr. Zimmerman will review the ongoing development of the rule of law in China and facilitate a discussion on the likely trends for foreign investors doing business in China. Recent developments with respect to a number of China’s laws and regulations affecting foreign investment approvals and restrictions, anti-monopoly and competition law, labor/employment law, taxation and customs, development of the judiciary and impact on foreign investors, and restraints on the internet and free speech will be addressed. You will learn about key trends affecting foreign business with respect to criminal and civil enforcement of China’s anti-bribery laws, state secrets laws, and privacy rules. This interactive program will host James Zimmerman, the managing party of the Beijing office of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton, LLP.
