Dear Campus Community,

With the historic announcement of the election of the first pope from the Americas we join Catholics and others from around the world in extending our prayers to Pope Francis as he begins his ministry as the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. With eager anticipation and great hope we pray for him, as he asked in his first words as Holy Father, that he will be given the grace to lead with wisdom and courage, with compassion and understanding, humility and inspiration to guide the Church and to witness to all those who aspire to a world of peace and prosperity for all humankind in these challenging times.

Our community will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving for Pope Francis at 12:15 p.m. next Tuesday, March 19, in Founders Chapel, the day of the formal installation of the Holy Father in Rome.
