A film by Theo Rigby, winner of a Student Academy Award®, Sin País (Without Country) explores one family’s complex and emotional journey involving deportation. A co-presentation with Latino Public Broadcasting.

We All Have Dreams

A co-presentation with Media Arts Center San Diego. As a former civil rights activist and freedom rider, Representative Bob Filner talks about his experience during the tumultuous civil rights movement and how these lessons can be applied to the present day. He talks about the Dream Act- legislation meant to help undocumented students have access to higher education- and explains how he thinks direct action is the best way to bring the stories of these undocumented youth into the public discourse.

Followed by a discussion with Olivia Ruiz, professor of anthropology at the Colegio de la Frontera Norte, an expert on U.S.-Mexico immigration issues and Youth Film producers from Media Arts Center, San Diego.
