The California Innocence Project was founded in 1999 and is part of a world wide organization that works to exonerate wrongfully convicted people through DNA and other factual evidence. The CA project is a law school clinical program at Cal Western School of Law, which trains students to examine evidence and help attorneys with the legal processes of exoneration. Jeff Chinn will discuss the mission of the CA Innocence Project, present some recent cases of individuals who have been exonerated, and describe what circumstances, such as misidentification, lead to wrongful convictions.

A reception will follow this event in the Hilton Loggia (outside Warren Auditorium) where students can ask Jeff Chinn questions and discuss opportunities available to them through the CA Innocence Project.

This event is co-sponsored by the Sociology Honor Society and the Social Justice LLC.
