Join us for the fifth annual in-depth speaker series for educational leaders at the ELDA Spotlight on Education Speaker Series, sponsored by the Educational Leadership Development Academy (ELDA) in the University of San Diego’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences.

The fifth annual in-depth speaker series for educational leaders will focus on "Next Steps: Using Curriculum and Learning Technology in 21st Century Schools." Yong Zhao's talk will discuss "Schools as Global Enterprises: Re-imagine Education for the Age of Globalization."

Yong Zhao, PhD, is a University Distinguished Professor at the College of Education, Michigan State University. He is founding director of the Center for Teaching and Technology, executive director of the Confucius Institute, as well as the US-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence. He is a fellow of the International Academy for Education. His current work focuses on designing 21st century schools in the context of globalization and the digital revolution. During his talk, Dr. Zhao will present his recent thoughts about the kind of learning institutions needed in a globalized era. He suggests that although schools will and should remain locally operated, they should be conceptualized as global enterprises. We must prepare our students for the global market and draw on global resources to create personalized learning environments for all students.
